ai2excel is a browser-based AI agent for Excel spreadsheets. Upload your .xlsx, .xls, or .csv files and use natural language to create formulas, build pivot tables, generate charts, clean messy data exports, apply conditional formatting, and automate repetitive spreadsheet tasks — without installing Microsoft Office or purchasing a Microsoft 365 subscription.
Unlike formula generators that only output text you must copy and paste, ai2excel renders your full workbook in the browser and executes changes directly on the live file. Every AI action includes a preview diff so you can approve or reject changes before they are applied. A full undo and redo stack protects your data throughout the session.
ai2excel supports multi-sheet workbooks, number formatting, sort and filter operations, find and replace, chart creation, and data transformation workflows. Pro plans unlock advanced features including pivot tables and priority access to the latest large language models. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and your spreadsheet data is never used to train AI models.

A quick reference for spreadsheet and AI concepts you will encounter when working with ai2excel.
- Pivot table
- A summary table that aggregates rows of data by categories — for example, total revenue grouped by region and product line — without writing formulas manually.
- VLOOKUP
- A classic Excel function that looks up a value in the leftmost column of a table and returns a matching value from another column in the same row.
- INDEX/MATCH
- A flexible lookup combination: MATCH finds a row or column position, and INDEX returns the value at that position. Often preferred over VLOOKUP for large tables.
- Conditional formatting
- Rules that automatically change cell appearance — color, bold, icons — based on values or formulas, useful for highlighting exceptions and thresholds.
- Agent
- An AI system that plans and executes multi-step tasks on your behalf. In ai2excel, the agent reads your workbook and applies changes through structured tools.
- Tool call
- A structured action the AI agent invokes — such as set_cell, insert_formula, or create_chart — rather than outputting free-form text you must copy manually.
- Formula bar
- The input area above the spreadsheet grid where you view and edit the formula or value of the currently selected cell.
- Workbook
- An Excel file (.xlsx or .xls) containing one or more worksheets (tabs), each with its own grid of cells, formulas, and formatting.
- Data cleaning
- The process of fixing messy exports — trimming whitespace, removing duplicates, standardizing dates, and splitting combined columns — before analysis.
